The Valley Stream Mom has been married for 18 years and is the mother of 2 teens ages 13 and 17, who attend South Jr. and High School. She recently founded W.A.N.T.E.D., an organization that teaches boys decision making skills when dealing with violence and police targeting.
Close to her heart is the issue of domestic violence. With over 10 years of experience in the field, she has provided clinical counseling to victims of domestic violence and supervision to clinicians at an emergency domestic violence shelter (1999-2004). She continues to facilitate individual counseling sessions for individual survivors and group workshops and training on domestic violence prevention.
Rev. KC has received numerous awards and honors throughout her working years. Rev. KC was honored to be a part of a delegation to Vietnam and Cambodia with the American Counseling Association to discuss the field of counseling and ways of introducing and expanding the field of counseling in those areas. She was also featured in an article called “Women Doing it All: How four women balance marriage, family, and career" in Positive Community Magazine. Rev. KC is also the Founder of the Community Healing and Caring Center Inc. a non-profit organization, focused on family cohesion, community building and restoration.
KC is an contributing author of three book s, "From A Window: Discovery" published in 2011, “How to Survive When Your Ship is Sinking: Weathering Life’s Storms” and “Boys to Men: The Guide for African American Boys”, both to be released in August 2012. She is very proud to be working on her own book, “Cured but Not Healed: How to Experience Deeper Healing in Your Life” to be released in April 2012.
