VS Community Band Hosts "Kids Night" Concert

The Valley Stream Community Band will perform a special Kid's Concert this Tuesday, August 2nd featuring the sounds of the Valley Stream Community Band.  What makes this concert so special is that the band will be featuring music for the young and young at heart.  Selections will include the Family Guy theme, Who Let the Dogs Out, Happy Together, The Wizard of Oz, and The Lion King to name a few.  Not only will kids dance in the aisles, but Valley Stream's very own Mayor Ed Fare and the school Superintendents from the various school districts will perform playing sand paper and blocks.  As a mom, we have all heard the clicking sounds of our little ones playing blocks, but sand paper is a new one for me. Bring your lawn chair, cooler with beverages, and dancing shoes.

Art in the Park & Boutique Craft Fair

Art in the Park - 2010

This Saturday, Envision Valley Stream's highly anticipated Art in the Park event will take place on the Village Green. According to the Valley Stream edition of the Long Island Herald, the purpose of the event was to provide an outlet for residents to appreciate the creative work of students and local artists from Valley Stream, Long, Beach, Floral Park and nearby locations.

Expect to see artwork from Valley Stream students of all ages. I have to add that VS has some pretty talented students. I remember walking through the halls of District 13 a few months ago and saw the artwork of Memorial Junior High School students on the wall. I was pretty impressed and I'm sure art fair attendees will be as well.

Added to the event this year will be a Boutique Craft Fair where attendees can purchase an array of items as well as try their luck in winning raffle prizes.
