Unique Ways to Decorate #Easter Eggs

I admit, I find egg decorating a bit boring and had plans to get out of it this year.  I still have the unopened Paas box from last year.  I don't think my kids ever knew I had it in the house.  However, I love unique and creative ideas so we just may decorate some this year.  Here are a few ideas from RD and Parents.com for you and your little ones.

I love the whole strawberry thing but I'm not sure how you would easily cut a whole in a plastic egg.

This would be a great hor's douvres for an Easter brunch.

Way too cute!  See how here.

Perfect for you 70's babies

Halloween Decorations

Frog Prince Paperie Printable Halloween Decor

I love planning events.  I completed a certificate in Special Events & Meeting Planning at New York University a few years ago.  I am always searching for ways to decorate the next party or social gathering in my home. Believe it or not, Halloween is just over 30 days away.  It seems like Halloween was just last week. I think we still have candy left over from last year tucked waaaaay back into the cabinet.  We let the kids eat it for a few days and then it magically disappears.   Below are some designs that caught my eye while surfing fit for any party for children or adults.  I have never really decorated the house for Halloween, but I do have a few Fall decorations I sprinkle throughout the house.  I don't want to scare the kids.  If you're new to the area, you will appreciate an upcoming post I will write on how Halloween works around here.  Totally nothing like how we did it back in Ohio.  I still am a bit confused on the whole trick o' treating thing out here.

Children's Room Decor

My kids have the cutest rooms! We live in a tudor style home which means none of the bedrooms have your average evenly squared walls. This is a good and bad thing actually. As I was shopping at Denny's Kids in Oceanside, NY I ran across Green Street Custom Design's business card. They are located in Nassau County! I have always wanted a mural on my children's walls. My son has the cutest room of them all.  He has two built-in mini cubbies. One I would love to turn into a space ship and the other could be a mini library or something to encourage studying and reading. Stay tuned! You can find more photos on Green Street's Facebook page.

Get Organized for the School Year

Needing all the inspiration I can get, I want to share this article I found on Overstock.com which helps the unorganized get organized for the upcoming school year.  Last school year, my daughter came home with so many art projects, sheets of doodles, etc. I just didn't know what to do with all of it.  I mean, I can't throw all of the Picasso-like paintings away (while she's awake), but I can neatly pack them away in her closet and discreetly toss the non blue ribbon winning projects into the trash without guilt, right?

While we're on the subject of organization, if your children grow like weeds the way mine do you'll have plenty of clothes to purge from their already overstuffed drawers.  How unfair is it that our kids get a new wardrobe every 3 - 6 months?  Anyhoo, we just received a donation bag from the Lupus Foundation who will be in Valley Stream September 2nd.  Click here for a previous blog I wrote highlighting the various nonprofits who pick up clothing, toys, etc. right from your front door.  How awesome is that?

If you know of any charities that accept children's toys, please leave a comment on this post.  Would you participate in a toy or clothing swap?
