After a school picnic, tap and ballet class, marriage conference, family carnival, two pageants, birthday party, and celebrating Father's Day, I now think I know why my body is sore. I am extremely exhausted, however, that did not stop Monday from arriving on time. Summer is officially upon us and I woke up this morning unprepared to greet it. My eldest "stepped up" from Pre-K last week and finished the celebration with a school picnic at Lynbrook's Greis Park. On Saturday, we took the kids to Shaw Avenue Elementary Schools Family Carnival where they had about 6 bouncies, great music, cotton candy, and games for all to enjoy. The PTA at Shaw did a fabulous job and I look forward to attending next year's event as well. Today is Monday and my youngest is two weeks away from completing a Super Beast class at The Little Gym of Merrick for 2-3 year olds. I woke up thinking that I have nowhere to take my eldest, who is 5, while we attend gym class. With better planning, I would have dropped her off at the Children's Safari...I mean, didn't I put this on my blog last week? Anyhow, my son’s part-time daycare provider came through for me and was able to watch my daughter for 2 hours. It’s always smart to have back up but even that could have been a disaster. Apparently small daycares can only accept two school aged children daily, and being that she isn’t a full time client the daycare didn’t have to accept her. But thank God she did!
Now, we are at the library where I just signed up both kids for the Summer Reading Program. Upon registration, the kids are given two, colorful bookmarks with the theme “One World, Many Stories.” Participants are encouraged to not only read 6 – 18 books during the summer, but also asked to send a postcard to the library while on vacation this summer. At the end of the summer, participants will be celebrated through special interactive programs where they will receive certificates for completing the program.
Now that my eldest is out of school, you just may see us strolling along Rockaway sampling week’s cupcakes at the local bakeries, stopping by Itgens to show my newest Valley Stream mom THE best ice cream ever, or wading in the Valley Stream pool. Who knows, you may even catch me teaching my eldest how to ride her bike. But for now, I have to take the kids to a birthday party at the Rockville Centre Recreation Centre. It never ends, does it? Enjoy your week!
This is such a wonderful blog. Kudos to you Kim. Also thank you for stopping by Shaw Avenue carnival.
