Final Show Today! Darlene Graham & Shades of Green Band

I took Valley Stream Kids to see the "Stomp It Up" show with Darlene Graham & Shades of Green Band at Rath Park yesterday in Franklin Square and boy, did we have a good time!  The FREE concert, sponsored by the Town of Hempstead, started on time and featured many favorite kiddie selections such as "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes," (which Valley Stream Son couldn't keep up with), "I Want Candy," "Happy and You Know It" and Yo Gabba Gabba favorite, "Let's Get the Sillies Out."

Former school teacher Graham introduced and played the tin whistle which she has played since she was a little girl, her husband (Shades of Green Band) played the gourd, and I think I heard her mention a glockenspiel.  I don't think I've heard one of those since Mrs. Danner's music class in the 6th grade.

She is playing her final concert of the summer for the Town of Hempstead today at Elmont's Hendrickson Park at 10:30 a.m.  It's FREE and definitely a must see.

Here's a few tips for you:

  1. Take a blanket to sit on if you want to sit up close
  2. Take a lawn chair if you don't mind sitting in the back
  3. Be prepared to dance with your little one
  4. Be prepared to hug and kiss your little one during one of the songs
  5. Take a snack and a beverage
  6. Take bug spray and sun block (just in case)
  7. Have a good time!
