This Week's To Do's In Valley Stream

The school year is ending with graduations, proms, and awards ceremonies.  Unfortunately, there is also a school budget re-vote happening Tuesday, June 19th in the Elmont School District.  Hopefully the residents of the community will come out to have their voices heard.  If you don't vote, then you will have no right to complain about the outcome and why there isn't any community sports programs for your children.  Call your neighbors to remind them.  Email your class list and remind them.  Carpool.  Enough said.  Let's keep the quality of life going for the kids in the community.

Right here in Valley Stream the kiddies at Buck, Carbonaro, and Brooklyn Avenue Elementary Schools will be hosting their graduation ceremonies this week.  Don't forget your Nikon COOLPIX L810 16.1 MP Digital Camera with 26x Zoom NIKKOR ED Glass Lens and 3-inch LCD (Blue)
like I did and kick yourself in the toosh.  Not a good feeling when you can't take good pictures of your baby's first Kindergarten graduation ceremony.  I mean, they sang "What A Wonderful World" and I frick'n missed it.

Also going on are North and South High School Proms.  I don't know if they do the pre-prom fashion show red-carpet style like Central, but if they do...watch out!  Be safe kids.

If you missed it, Kindergarten screenings are taking place in District 30 at Shaw Avenue School.  Please call the school for times.

Ending the week will be "Friday Family Fun" at the Valley Stream Library for those ages 2 - 5. The event begins at 4 p.m.  I believe you need to register but to be safe, call the library.  Be sure to visit their event page. They have some pretty unique programs coming up this summer.

Have you heard that it's going to be a scorcher right about Wednesday?  Head on over to Village Hall or the Pool to purchase your pool pass.  If you don't, you'll end up paying more if you pay as you go.  Who wants to do that?  You can find pool pass info on the Village Recreation Departments website. If you purchase a pool pass, they will throw in a Dog Park pass for FREE!  Great, but not for those of us who don't have dogs.  Don't forget to bring two original proofs of residency, a pint of blood, and your first born to purchase a pass.  Just kidding about the last two.

Get ready for summer.  It's making its debut this week.

Happy Monday!
