FREE Summer Recreation Showcase

Did you know that there are two parts to Valley Stream?  There is the Incorporated Village of Valley Stream and there is the unincorporated Village of Valley Stream.  Those that live in the Inc. Village, have access to the Henry Waldinger Memorial Library, Hendrickson pool, and Hendrickson Park (which is guarded by an attended May 31 - September (when the pool closes for the season) and are also governed by the Village Mayor and Board of Trustees. Those that live in the unincorporated Village of Valley Stream which include North Valley Stream and Milbrook, are not governed by the Village Board but are governed by the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County.  These communities have access to the same pool, parks and activities but at an increased rate.  However, we are all still part of the Town of Hempstead and Nassau County, so we ALL have access to TOH and NC services. Got it? Good.  (Thanks for the correction, Miss Cange.)

Why are the lines drawn as such?  Politics.  Personally, it doesn't make sense to carve out sections of a community for the sake of keeping a republican or democrat in office, but to those in power, it does.  Valley Stream was recently split in two and now will be governed by two members of Congress as opposed to one.  Today is a congressional primary.  Did you know that?

Getting back to the reason for this post....
