Resume Writing Workshop for Students - Update

You may remember this original post from January 3rd.  I wanted to share with you that there will be a Yale University graduate who is also an admissions counselor on the panel now.  The panel will provide information beneficial to creating a resume to help your student with high school and college applications, summer jobs, scholarships and much more. I hope to see you there!

At the ripe old age of 6 months, my daughter has participated in various music and educational classes designed to nurture her development.  Be it going to the library, Music Together, Audra Rox, reading classes at Nassau County Community College, Hofstra Saturday Classes for Kids, tennis, cooking, soccer, dance, etc. she has done quite a bit for a six year old.  I recently realized that all of this experience will go to waste if I don't keep track of it.  In a few years, she will have to apply for scholarships, hopefully an induction into the National Honor Society, summer internships, or even a job.  I'm getting emotional just typing this post.  Reality is that our kids will one day need a resume long before they interview for their first job.  Don't you want your child to have a fighting chance?  I do.

Talented Youth Development, Inc. (TYDI) and Sparkle Empowerment Program for Girls are hosting a resume writing workshop for students on Saturday, January 21st from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the American Legion Post located at 51 Roosevelt Avenue in Valley Stream.  As the Executive Director/Founder of this organization, it is important to me that our children be well prepared for what lies ahead.  Students will learn how important it is to list their experience in resume form.  Professionals will be on hand to provide their experience as well. Parents are encouraged to attend with children 14 years old and under.
