Veteran's Day FREE Meals, Deals & To Do's

On Tuesday, November 11th the nation will gather together for parades, dinners, and other celebrations to honor our Veterans.  Last year, I wrote a blog post about Veterans Day and my visit to the White House as a kid.  My how things have changed since then.  If you can't make any of the events in your community, be sure to thank at least one Veteran that day.  And remember, all Veterans aren't currently wearing uniforms.  Here's a moving video from Moments.org.  Get your tissue ready.




Below is a list of events and opportunities happening for both the Veterans and our children.  Spread the word!

Meals & Deals for Veterans

Eat FREE at Chilis and Applebees on Sunday, November 11th 
Must show Military ID or proof required.  Family cannot eat free but can click here for a FREE appetizer or dessert from Chilis or here for a free chips and queso from Chilis as well.

Hooters – Hooters is offering 10 free boneless wings to military veterans all day on Veterans Day. Offer valid at participating Hooters, dine-in only.
Texas Road House – In honor of Veterans Day, Texas Road House is offering active, former or retired military free lunch from the special Veterans Menu.
Jo-Ann – Save 20% off your total purchase from November 8-12 with proof of military service or Military Dependent ID, past or present.
Krispy Kreme – Get a free donut at participating Krispy Kreme to all active-duty, retirees & veterans.
Subway – Subway is offering a free six inch sub or flatbread to military veterans on November 11 with military ID or proof of service required.


Fun with Kids
The Department of Veterans Affairs has a great website targeting children grades K - 12 offering age appropriate activities and games. There's even a teacher's page filled with resources about Veterans Affairs, Veterans, and patriotism.

Monday, November 12th "To Do's"

The Center for Science Teaching and Learning invites children ages 4 - 12 to participate in "School's Out" Veterans Day, a full day of enrichment.  For details call (516) 764-0045.

The Long Island Chidlren's Museum is open all day!  Bring the kids in for a production of "Go Dog. Go!" playing at 12:30 p.m. and again at 3 p.m.
