I absolutely LOVE this collection! (But not enough to get pregnant again) |
I haven't had to don maternity digs since 2008 and I haven't missed them one bit. Well, maybe a little because with my youngest I was able to wear summer clothing for a few weeks which is always better than frumpy sweaters as I had with my winter baby. Then, the empire waist and baby doll dress/shirt style was returning and I happened to get in on for about two weeks. With the maternity fashions of today, a mommy-to-be doesn't have to worry about looking frumpy, but fabulous.
On September 14th, entertainer turned fashion mogul Jessica Simpson, soon to be known as Maxwell Drew's mom, is launching her first maternity collection with Destination Maternity®, Motherhood Maternity® and select Macy’s stores. Believe me when I say that this collection will leave you feeling stylish, hip, and far from fat and frumpy.
I was invited to preview the collection with the likes of REAL fashion writers! WOW!!! You'll want to know early on that the collection ranges from $36 - $79. Double WOW!
Full of
breezy, everyday pieces, the collection is aimed at the modern mom-to-be who
wants to maintain her fashion edge throughout her pregnancy. Finding the perfect balance between comfort
and style is something Simpson, who welcomed her first child, daughter Maxwell
Drew, this past May knows well.
“It was such a
great experience to design a collection with Destination Maternity; the line is
full of fashionable styles that make you look and feel great!" Simpson
said, “You want to wear clothes that are flattering to your baby bump; you
want to show your bump off.”
The collection has a vintage 70s feel and exudes
influence of Simpson’s signature style. Mixing patterns and textures gives the
debut collection a cool, relaxed vibe.
Parallel to the core Jessica Simpson Collection, the maternity line
contains signature denim in a variety of washes and leggings featuring Destination
Maternity’s Secret Fit Belly®, a patented elastic waistband that hugs your
belly during all stages of pregnancy and after the baby is born. Vintage print tops, flowing maxis and
form-fitting jersey knit dresses channel Simpson’s carefree casual side. Contemporary separates including jackets,
blazers and chunky relaxed sweaters and essential knits round out the
offering. The styles are designed to
accentuate the baby bump, while maintaining the ultimate in stylish comfort.

“Jessica has exceptional style and design insight which made this
collection a true collaboration every step of the way,” said Chris Daniel,
President of Destination Maternity Corporation.
“Each piece embodies the spirit of the core Jessica Simpson Collection
while also being unique and relevant to the maternity customer.”
In stores September 14th, Jessica Simpson®
Maternity will be exclusively available in Motherhood Maternity stores,
Destination Maternity stores, as well as select Macy’s. These great looks are priced $36.00 to
$79.00.
