Friendly Children's Bee Programs

I'm not sure what all the buzz is about bees next week, but when I come across events that coincide with one another, I have to share them with you.  I'm going to try to interest my kids in these programs, but honestly I don't think it will go over well.  My two are afraid of flies and they don't sting.  But, knowledge is power, right?

Honey Hoopla at Long Island Children's Museum

Bee-amazed at the Honey Hoopla at LICM! Did you know that honey bees have been around for millions of years and are an important part of the food chain? Meet local bee keeper Carl Flatow and learn about the natural history and fascinating world of bees. Discover the art of beekeeping, bee anatomy and all the important contributions bees make to the planet. Create fun bee crafts, participate in activity challenges and even enjoy tasty treats of
different types of honey! All ages. Free with museum admission.

What's The Buzz?  Celebrate Hone Bees with APEC Educators
Busy, Busy, Honey Bees!
Time: 10a - 11:30a
Ages 4 - 10 (parent participation; child must be accompanied by a parent)
Cost: $10 - $16

Get ready to buzz around APEC learning all about honey bees!  Meet our bee keepr, make a bees wax candle, sample honey, plant "bee friendliny" seeds, play bee games, and enjoy Story Circle Time.  There will be photo opporotunities and surprises.  Pre-registration is required!  First 15 families to register will receive a copy of a honey bee book; additional families that register will also receive a small gift.
