Weekend To Do's In/Nearby Valley Stream

Strong Side Studios is kicking off it's summer Youth Concert Series this Saturday at the Valley Stream Band Shell.  Where is that?  Adjacent to the Henry Waldinger Library and Village Hall.  You know, where you go to pay your parking fee or stand before the ever so comical Judge Bogel who knows alot about history. See the flyer above for deets. I went last year to one concert and was pretty impressed with the talented teens of Valley Stream.

I feel as if I have paid my dues in this area, so I will not be participating in the national Great American Backyard Camp Out started by the Great.  Don't let me stop you from sleeping amongst the mosquitoes, raccoon, and possums because that's exactly what lurks in my backyard.  Be sure to be safe with any campfires you may  start. With it being so hot, who would want to be next to a fire?

As mentioned the other day, Every Child Matters is hosting a community event with Bubblemania at Hoftstra University.  Looks like you're guaranteed to have a poppin' good time.  I couldn't resist.  Details can be found in this previous post.

While you're at Hofstra, stop by the Viva Long Island Latino Festival hosted by the Lizards Lacrosse team from 1 p.m. - 10 p.m.  Proceeds will benefit Long Island Latino youth and non-profit organizations.

The 3rd Annual Caribbean International Festival celebrates Caribbean Heritage Month at Eisenhower Park Saturday from 1 p.m. - 9 p.m.  This free family event will include food, music, displays, tourist expo, and wellness pavilion.  The celebration will end with a spectacular fireworks display.

Enjoy your weekend!
