The good thing about living so close to other villages is that you have many options to attend holiday or community events if your schedule conflicts with the celebrations taking place in your own village. Below is a list of area celebrations kicking off as early as this Saturday in Malverne which sounds like THE place to be for kids this weekend.

Friends of North Valley Stream
Time: 6 p.m.
Location: Matthew Giglio Plaza @ Dutch Broadway/Corona Avenue
Activities: Performances by James A. Dever School jazz band, and Howell Road School Chorale

The Lighting of Malverne
Time: 10:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.Tree lighting @ 5:15 p.m.

Activities: Breakfast with Santa (reservations required), Free movie with Santa (The Smurfs), bowling, storytime, local high school bands and choirs, Elf parade (how cool is this?), blessing of the Creche, free photos with Santa, horse and buggy rides, live nativity and choir, dance performances, ice sculpture, reindeer games, and much more. (This sounds like an awesome event)

Lighting of the Menorah
Time: 5 p.m.
Location: Near the fountain
Lynbrook
Saturday, December 4th
Winter Celebration on Atlantic Avenue
Time: 4 p.m. – 7 p.m.
Tree Lighting is @ 4:15 p.m.
Activities: Santa’s House, Caroling, horse-drawn sleigh, rides and more

Thursday, December 8th
Tree Lighting
Time: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Village Green @ corner of Maple and Lee Avenues
Activities: Music and community fellowship will continue until Santa and his helpers arrive

Chanukah Party
Time: 5 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.
Location: RVC Recreation Center
Pre-K through Elementary school age children are invited to attend and enjoy the festivities
